Profhilo Skin Booster in Hamilton & Inverness

Rehydrate, Firm and Remodel Your Skin with Profhilo at FTT Skin Clinics

Introduction

Profhilo is not a dermal filler. It is in a class of its own. Rather than adding volume or reshaping features, Profhilo works by flooding the skin with an exceptionally high concentration of hyaluronic acid — 64mg per 2ml, one of the highest HA concentrations available in any injectable product — which spreads through the skin and triggers the production of four types of collagen and elastin simultaneously. The result is a genuine improvement in skin quality: tighter, firmer, more hydrated and visibly more youthful skin.

At FTT Skin Clinics in Hamilton  and Inverness, Profhilo is one of our most popular treatments — and one we genuinely believe in. It suits patients of almost any age who are concerned about skin laxity, dullness, dehydration, or a general loss of the glow and firmness that characterises younger skin. It is particularly effective on the face, neck and décolleté, but can also be used on the hands, elbows, knees and inner arms.

Profhilo is a BDDE-free stabilised HA product, meaning it contains no chemical cross-linking agents. It is injected at five specific bio-aesthetic points (BAP points) on each side of the face using a very fine needle, spreading smoothly through the tissue from each injection site. Treatment is performed across two sessions spaced four weeks apart. The optimal result is seen at six weeks after the second session, and results are maintained with repeat courses twice per year.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Profhilo and a dermal filler?

Dermal fillers add volume to specific areas — lips, cheeks, jaw — and are used to reshape or restore structure. Profhilo does not add volume or change facial structure. Instead, it diffuses through the tissue and stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen and elastin, improving overall skin quality, firmness and hydration. The two treatments do different jobs and complement each other well in a combined treatment plan.

How many Profhilo sessions do I need?

The initial treatment protocol consists of two sessions spaced four weeks apart. The best result is seen approximately four to six weeks after the second session, once the collagen and elastin stimulation has taken full effect. To maintain results, most patients return for a further course twice per year — either two sessions again, or a single maintenance session every three months.

Who is Profhilo suitable for?

Profhilo is suitable for most healthy adults who are concerned about skin laxity, dehydration, dullness, or early signs of ageing — and it is increasingly popular with patients in their 30s as a preventative treatment. It is particularly effective for patients who want a genuine improvement in skin quality rather than a structural change. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and patients with certain autoimmune conditions should consult their GP before treatment.

Is Profhilo better than other skin boosters?

Profhilo’s distinction is its exceptionally high HA concentration and its unique thermal stabilisation technology, which allows it to spread through the tissue rather than remaining localised at the injection point. This means fewer injections are needed and the product treats a larger area of skin. Other skin boosters work differently — your practitioner can advise which product is most appropriate for your specific concerns at consultation.

What areas can be treated with Profhilo?

Profhilo was originally developed for the face, but it can be used on any area where skin quality is a concern. Commonly treated areas at FTT Skin Clinics include the face, neck, décolleté, hands, inner arms, elbows and knees. A separate Profhilo Body treatment protocol is available for larger body areas — see our Profhilo Body page for more information.
