Hydrofacial

Hydrofacial at FTT Skin Clinics.

Hydrofacial offers a next-generation water-based microdermabrasion. It uses various solutions which deep clean and exfoliate, hydrate and renew the skin and offers an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effect, which is great for various skin conditions.

Firstly, a Lactic Acid cleansing solution exfoliates and hydrates the skin. Dead cells, blackheads, and impurities are cleared using a suction device. A hydrating antioxidant solution is applied under pressure to hydrate and protect.

Secondly, Salicylic Acid is applied to treat oily or acne-prone skin with an anti-inflammatory effect.

Thirdly, a Hydro-essence is applied containing Vitamin B, antioxidants and nutrients which penetrate the skin and leave it hydrated and nourished.

It can help with the reduction in the appearance of fine lines, congested or enlarged pores, acne-prone skin and hyperpigmentation, leaving you with a glowing, fresh complexion.

Benefits include:

  • Deep cleansing and mild peeling
  • Stimulating new collagen production
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Acne reduction
  • Blackhead removal.

IPL Skin Rejuvenation

IPL Skin Rejuvenation – FTT Skin Clinics.

We offer next generation IPL Skin Rejuvenation, hair removal, photo shower, cell toning and vascular lesion removal functionality.

Our treatments use a high powered computer controlled flash gun to deliver an intense broad spectrum pulse of light.

IPL and Laser both use light and heat for targeted treatments. However IPL uses a broad light spectrum to treat several conditions whereas Lasers use a single wavelength of light which will only treat one condition.

The following IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatments are available:-

  • Cell Toning: Short rapid pulses of light remove pigment lesions (such as melasma).
  • IPL Photo Rejuvenation: A continuous stream of 300 light pulses/per minute killing bacteria.
  • Thread Vein Removal: Thread veins are removed permanently because the light is absorbed by the haemoglobin causing damage to those blood vessels. Eventually the veins break down and are reabsorbed by the body.
  • IPL Hair reduction: Hair cells are killed because the pigment in the hair absorbs light which turns to heat.

We will also  carry out a complementary Skin Analysis to decide on the best course of action prior to treatment.

IPL is comparable to an ultra powerful camera flash against the skin. The selected wavelengths target particular colour pigments which in turn targets particular skin conditions.

Our IPL uses a variety of different colour filters for different treatment whereas laser’s typically target a specific treatment because it only generates a single wavelength of light,

Hairs grow in different cycles – Active, Dormant and Shed ( to be replaced with new active hair growth). Hair cells are killed because the pigment in the hair absorbs light which turns to heat. IPL only removes hair during its active growth cycle which is why multiple treatments are required.

Light is absorbed by colour particles on the blood and melanin. It also treats the bacterium in acne and protein present in collagen producing cells.  Pigmentation marks move to the surface and are shed naturally. Lesions are absorbed into the lymphatic system for excretion. Enlarged Pores and scaring diminish and fade. Fine lines and wrinkles are softened and may disappear. Collagen and Elastin production increase improving the skins texture and elasticity.

Most treatments have little or no sensation but others produce a stinging sensation similar to being pinged by an elastic band. If at any time the treatment is uncomfortable then the intensity can be reduced.

With any high energy, light based device there are risks involved including hypo, hyper pigmentation scarring and burning.

We perform a patch test 24 hours prior to treatment to minimise risk.

For 24 hours after each IPL treatment.

  • No sun exposure or UV exposure on sun beds.
  • Wear sun block with both UVA and UVB protection.
  • No very hot baths or showers or heat treatments such as sauna or hot tubs or swimming in chorinated pools.
  • No deodorant, perfumes, highly perfumed soaps or lotions, etc. on treated areas.

Exilis® Elite Body Contouring

Exilis® Elite Body Contouring at FTT Skin Clinics.

Exilis® Elite Body Contouring is a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment that uses advanced radio frequency technology to tighten skin, reduce fat, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Not only is it one of the most revolutionary developments in non-surgical aesthetics, but it’s also highly effective for treating mild to moderate skin laxity.

Developed by BTL Aesthetics, Exilis® Elite works by delivering focused radio frequency energy to the targeted area. As a result, it stimulates collagen production while also encouraging the breakdown of fat cells. Over time, this leads to firmer, more sculpted contours on the face and body.

In addition, treatments are comfortable and require no downtime. Whether your goal is fat reduction or skin tightening, sessions are fully tailored to your needs – making Exilis® Elite Body Contouring a more than ideal option for nature-looking, visible results.

  • superficial fine lines.
  • belly fat reduction.
  • deep wrinkles within the deep tissue on the face, neck and body.
  • love handles.
  • bingo wings (flabby arms).
  • saddle bags on hips and thighs.
  • post-baby tummies.
  • turkey necks.
  • jowling in the face.

More About Exilis® Elite at FTT Skin Clinics

How it works:
Exilis® Elite delivers controlled radio frequency heat deep into the skin, which in turn stimulates collagen production and enhances skin elasticity. Moreover, it is suitable for all skin types and can be used on the face, neck, and body.

Treatment frequency: For optimal results, we typically recommend a series of 4 to 6 Exilis® Elite sessions, spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart. During your consultation, your practitioner will create a personalised plan based on your goals, skin type and treatment area.

As a result, you’ll notice smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. With continued sessions, improvements build over time – delivering visible, non-surgical results that boost confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Find out more…

Exilis® Elite Body Contouring results are generally long-lasting, as long as you maintain you a stable weight following the treatment.

However, when used to treat cellulite, the results are not permanent, since cellulite naturally recurs over time.

  • Side effects are generally minimal.
  • Pinkness or redness to the skin immediately following the treatment.
  • Skin may be slightly tender to the touch for a little time afterwards
  • Very rare risks reported include numbness, swelling (oedema), blistering, scarring, allergic reactions and nausea.

The practitioner will attach a grounding pad on your back, thigh or shoulder, which allows the radio frequency energy to return to the device. They will then apply a gel to the area to be treated which will help the hand piece to move on your skin.

Most clients describe the sensation as a warm massage. The treatment is well-tolerated and does not require anaesthesia.

    Frequently asked questions

    Find out more…

What are dermal fillers and how do they work?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels — most commonly made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the skin — that add volume, smooth wrinkles, and restore facial structure. When injected, they plump the area immediately. HA fillers are temporary and gradually broken down by the body over several months.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Results typically last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the type of filler used and the area treated. Lips tend to metabolise filler faster (6–9 months), while cheek and jaw fillers often last 12–18 months. Your practitioner will discuss expected duration at your consultation.

    Are dermal fillers painful?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort. At FTT Skin Clinics we apply a topical anaesthetic cream before treatment, and many of the filler products we use also contain lidocaine (a local anaesthetic). You may feel slight pressure or a brief sting during injection, but the treatment is generally very well tolerated.

What is the difference between dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections (Botox)?

Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing the muscles that cause expression lines — such as forehead lines and crow’s feet. Dermal fillers work differently: they physically add volume beneath the skin to plump wrinkles, restore lost volume in cheeks or lips, or reshape facial features. Both treatments can complement each other.

What are the risks and side effects of dermal fillers?

Common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection site, which typically resolve within 24–72 hours. Serious complications are rare but can include vascular occlusion. At FTT Skin Clinics, all treatments are carried out by Advanced Medical Practitioners trained in complication management, including the use of Hyalase to dissolve filler if required.

Can dermal fillers be reversed or dissolved?

Yes. HA-based dermal fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called Hyaluronidase (Hyalase). At FTT Skin Clinics we offer a dedicated Dissolve & Solve Clinic to correct poorly placed filler, whether administered here or elsewhere. Please allow 7 days between dissolving and any further filler treatment.

Who is suitable for dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are suitable for adults who are in good general health and wish to address volume loss, deep lines, or facial asymmetry. Treatment is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. A full medical history is taken at consultation and our practitioners will advise whether treatment is appropriate for you.

How do I know which filler treatment is right for me?

Choosing the correct product and technique for your anatomy and goals is what separates a great result from an average one. At FTT Skin Clinics, every patient receives a comprehensive facial assessment at consultation. We will assess your facial structure, skin quality, and desired outcome before recommending the most appropriate treatment — whether that is HA gel, Profhilo, Sculptra, or a combination approach.

     Is FTT Skin Clinics regulated?

Yes. FTT Skin Clinics is regulated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), the Scottish equivalent of the CQC. All our practitioners hold recognised medical qualifications, are fully insured, and receive ongoing training in the latest techniques and safety protocols. You can book with complete confidence in the quality and safety of your care.

    Frequently asked questions

    Find out more…

    What happens during a consultation?

You’ll receive a full clinical assessment to determine suitability, discuss goals, and allow for a recommended cooling-off period before your first treatment. Your practitioner will take a detailed medical history and explain the process and expected outcomes.

    How do anti-wrinkle treatments work?

We use a prescription-only medicine that works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to targeted muscles. This reduces muscle activity, helping to smooth lines and prevent further creasing.

    Will I look ‘frozen’?

Absolutely not. At FTT, we’re known for our whole-face, natural approach. We tailor dosages to your facial dynamics and anatomy to ensure refreshed, expressive results—never frozen or overdone.

    How long do results take?

Initial effects begin within a few days, with full results visible at around 2–3 weeks. We offer a complimentary review appointment to assess outcomes and make any necessary refinements.

    How long do results last?

Results typically last 3–5 months, depending on the area treated and your individual response. Maintenance appointments are recommended to preserve and build on your results.

What’s the difference between wrinkle injections and dermal fillers?

Wrinkle-relaxing treatments target the muscles that cause lines, while dermal fillers restore volume by treating the wrinkles directly. Both can be used synergistically as part of a full-face treatment plan.
