Lip Fillers in Hamilton & Inverness
Natural Lip Enhancement by Expert Medical Practitioners at FTT Skin Clinics
Lip fillers are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments we offer at FTT Skin Clinics — and among the most technically demanding to perform well. At our clinics in Hamilton and Inverness, lip filler treatments are carried out exclusively by Advanced Medical Practitioners with extensive experience in lip anatomy and advanced injection technique.
We use an extensive portfolio of premium, medically-licensed lip fillers because selecting the right product for your lip shape, skin type and desired outcome makes the difference between a good result and a great one. Whether you’re looking to add volume to naturally thin lips, restore fullness lost through ageing, improve lip definition and symmetry, or simply achieve a subtle, natural enhancement, we’ll create a treatment plan tailored entirely to your face.
Treatment is carried out using a blunt cannula, fine needle, or a combination of both — the most appropriate technique is decided at consultation following a full facial assessment. A topical anaesthetic cream is applied before treatment and many of our filler products contain lidocaine for additional comfort. Results are visible immediately, with the full settled result at two to three weeks.
We also offer a dedicated Dissolve & Solve Clinic for patients who wish to correct previously placed lip filler — whether administered here or by another practitioner.

Frequently asked questions
Will my lip fillers look natural?
Natural-looking lip filler is our standard, not an exception. We take time at every consultation to assess your facial proportions, lip shape and the outcome you want to achieve. We use conservative volumes and premium products chosen for their natural feel and movement. A good lip filler treatment should enhance what you have — not redefine you as a different person.
How much swelling should I expect after lip fillers?
Some swelling after lip filler is normal and expected. The lips are a vascular, sensitive area and most patients experience moderate swelling for the first 24–48 hours. This settles considerably by day three or four, and the full, settled result is visible at two to three weeks. We recommend planning your treatment at least two weeks before any important event.
How long do lip fillers last?
Lip filler typically lasts between 6 and 12 months. The lips are a highly mobile area — we use them constantly for speaking, eating and expression — which means filler metabolises faster here than in less active areas such as the cheeks. The product used and your individual metabolism also influence how quickly results fade.
Can previous lip filler be dissolved before a new treatment?
Yes. At FTT Skin Clinics we offer a dedicated Dissolve & Solve Clinic using Hyalase (hyaluronidase) to dissolve previously placed HA filler, whether administered here or elsewhere. We recommend allowing at least 7 days between dissolving and a new filler treatment. This allows any residual swelling to settle before reassessing the lip.
What is the difference between a cannula and a needle for lip filler?
Both techniques can produce excellent results, and the best choice depends on your lip anatomy and treatment goals. A fine needle allows very precise placement at specific points and is often used for defining the lip border. A blunt cannula reduces bruising risk and is well-suited to adding volume to the body of the lip. Many practitioners — including ours — use a combination of both within the same treatment for the most accurate result.

Profhilo Skin Booster
Profhilo Skin Booster in Hamilton & Inverness
Rehydrate, Firm and Remodel Your Skin with Profhilo at FTT Skin Clinics
Introduction
Profhilo is not a dermal filler. It is in a class of its own. Rather than adding volume or reshaping features, Profhilo works by flooding the skin with an exceptionally high concentration of hyaluronic acid — 64mg per 2ml, one of the highest HA concentrations available in any injectable product — which spreads through the skin and triggers the production of four types of collagen and elastin simultaneously. The result is a genuine improvement in skin quality: tighter, firmer, more hydrated and visibly more youthful skin.
At FTT Skin Clinics in Hamilton and Inverness, Profhilo is one of our most popular treatments — and one we genuinely believe in. It suits patients of almost any age who are concerned about skin laxity, dullness, dehydration, or a general loss of the glow and firmness that characterises younger skin. It is particularly effective on the face, neck and décolleté, but can also be used on the hands, elbows, knees and inner arms.
Profhilo is a BDDE-free stabilised HA product, meaning it contains no chemical cross-linking agents. It is injected at five specific bio-aesthetic points (BAP points) on each side of the face using a very fine needle, spreading smoothly through the tissue from each injection site. Treatment is performed across two sessions spaced four weeks apart. The optimal result is seen at six weeks after the second session, and results are maintained with repeat courses twice per year.
Key Benefits
- Improves skin hydration, texture and radiance
- Firms and tightens lax skin on the face, neck and body
- Stimulates four types of collagen and elastin production
- Treats the face, neck, décolleté, hands, knees and elbows
- BDDE-free — no chemical cross-linking agents
- Suitable for a wide age range, including patients in their 30s
- No significant downtime — small injection site bumps resolve within 24 hours
Key Facts
| Treatment Time | 30 minutes |
| No. of Sessions | 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart (then maintenance every 6 months) |
| Full Recovery Time | 24 hours* (small injection bumps may be visible) |
| Sensitivity Period | 12–24 hours* |
| Back to Work | Same day in most cases |
| Visible Results | 4–6 weeks after the second session |
| Duration of Results | ~6 months per course; maintained with twice-yearly treatment |
| Anaesthetic | Topical anaesthetic cream available on request |
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Profhilo and a dermal filler?
Dermal fillers add volume to specific areas — lips, cheeks, jaw — and are used to reshape or restore structure. Profhilo does not add volume or change facial structure. Instead, it diffuses through the tissue and stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen and elastin, improving overall skin quality, firmness and hydration. The two treatments do different jobs and complement each other well in a combined treatment plan.
How many Profhilo sessions do I need?
The initial treatment protocol consists of two sessions spaced four weeks apart. The best result is seen approximately four to six weeks after the second session, once the collagen and elastin stimulation has taken full effect. To maintain results, most patients return for a further course twice per year — either two sessions again, or a single maintenance session every three months.
Who is Profhilo suitable for?
Profhilo is suitable for most healthy adults who are concerned about skin laxity, dehydration, dullness, or early signs of ageing — and it is increasingly popular with patients in their 30s as a preventative treatment. It is particularly effective for patients who want a genuine improvement in skin quality rather than a structural change. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and patients with certain autoimmune conditions should consult their GP before treatment.
Is Profhilo better than other skin boosters?
Profhilo’s distinction is its exceptionally high HA concentration and its unique thermal stabilisation technology, which allows it to spread through the tissue rather than remaining localised at the injection point. This means fewer injections are needed and the product treats a larger area of skin. Other skin boosters work differently — your practitioner can advise which product is most appropriate for your specific concerns at consultation.
What areas can be treated with Profhilo?
Profhilo was originally developed for the face, but it can be used on any area where skin quality is a concern. Commonly treated areas at FTT Skin Clinics include the face, neck, décolleté, hands, inner arms, elbows and knees. A separate Profhilo Body treatment protocol is available for larger body areas — see our Profhilo Body page for more information.

Plasma Treatments Explained
Plasma is generated through the treatment needle and as a result the molecular chain of the skin epidermis breaks off and instantaneously causes sublimation on the skin surface. So it can be effectively used in a variety of skin problems such as acne, scar, stretchmarks, facial skin treatment, lower eyelid aesthetic surgery and eyelid lifting.
Plasma offers minimal damage of the tissue compared to other treatments such as laser and RF. It stimulates the immune tissue resistance and as a result shows excellent performance in tissue removal with short treatment time and quick recovery.
Hydrozid Cryotherapy
The alternative to plasma is the hydrozid cryotherapy. This involves applying extreme cold, often through liquid nitrogen, to freeze and destroy abnormal skin cells, causing the lesion to fall off as the area heals.
Hydrozid cryotherapy offers a precise, targeted method of treatment that minimises damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The treatment is quick, typically well-tolerated, and requires little to no downtime.
During the procedure, the HydroZid device delivers a controlled spray of cryogenic gas directly onto the lesion, achieving the necessary temperature for effective cell destruction. Patients may experience a brief stinging sensation during treatment, followed by temporary redness or blistering as the skin begins to heal.
Cryotherapy with HydroZid is an effective, non-invasive option for patients seeking a fast and efficient skin treatment without the need for surgical intervention.
Electrolysis
Electrolysis at FTT Skin Clinics offers a precise, high-frequency treatment designed for safe and effective lesion removals. This technique is particularly suited for treating milia and facial spider veins (telangiectasia), delivering targeted results with minimal discomfort.
During the procedure, a fine probe emits a controlled electrical current to gently cauterise the lesion. This allows for accurate removal while minimising trauma to the surrounding skin. Electrolysis is a highly focused treatment, reducing the risk of scarring and promoting smoother, clearer skin.
Multiple small imperfections can be addressed in a single session, making it an efficient choice for patients seeking visible improvement with minimal downtime. Electrolysis is a trusted method for lesion removal, providing a refined finish and leaving the skin looking refreshed and rejuvenated.

Frequently asked questions on Microneedling.
What are the benefits of a microneedling treatment?
FTT Microneedling Treatment technique involves using multiple tiny, sterile needles to puncture the skin and cause a controlled physical trauma to your skin. This trauma prompts the dermis, a deeper layer of skin, to rebuild. Microneedling increases the production of collagen and other healing factors by causing trauma to the skin. Collagen is an essential protein that helps keep the skin looking youthful, with a firm, smooth, and stretchy texture. Many of the conditions we treat are caused by a decline of collagen in the skin. FTT Microneedling Treatment is not a quick fix, as it involves the growth of new skin. It can take several months for a person to see the full results of the procedure.
Downtime?
In the hands of our expert clinical team at FTT Skin Clinics it is a safe and effective treatment however there can be side effects which are temporary. HIFU
High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) at FTT Skin Clinics.
This treatment is a safe and effective non-invasive procedure. It is used to significantly improve facial wrinkles and skin laxity. It is particularly effective for targeted improvement in the jawline, cheek, eyes, forehead and for sagging skin in the neck area.
HIFU is unique in its ability to penetrate the dermis and the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) layer, which is deeper than all other non-surgical facial treatments. SMAS is the same layer which is tightened during conventional face lift surgery. However, unlike surgery HIFU requires no downtime. As well as smoothing out wrinkles, the HIFU treatment also targets fat loss.

We offer the following areas for HIFU targeted fat reduction treatments:
- Forehead
- Cheeks
- Double Chin
- Neck
- Belly fat reduction
- Love handles
Frequently asked questions
Find out more…
HIFU is “High Intensity Focused Ultrasound”. HIFU stimulates the deep layers which support the skin creating a lifted, firm appearance and stimulates the production of further collagen.
Patients probably 30+ whose skin on face or neck had become lax and wishes to lift and tighten.
Clients may see an immediate improvement but generally lifting and firming will occur over three months as collagen is replaced with new stronger collagen. As the process continues improvements can appear for up to six months after the initial treatment. Most clients will find results last over a year although further treatments are recommended to retain the improvements.
Normally no downtime or recover time and most clients return to normal activities straight away. There may be slight redness following the treatment and a minority of clients report swelling, tingling or tenderness.

Plasma breaks the Cell Adhesion Molecules (CAMs) that connect the skin cell and open the protective film of the skin temporarily to induce this amazing absorption.
2. Plasma Mesotherapy
Removes bacteria on the skin and helps absorb essential drugs to the skin tissue. It sterilizes the skin and stimulates the skin treatment process such as skin regeneration, anti-bacteria, skin brightening and collagen generation.
